Three practical ways to help an Ohio veteran on Veterans Day
Ask what would help, share a nomination with permission, or offer materials and skills to a local veteran build.
Start by asking what would help
Veterans Day is November 11. If you want to show up for a veteran you know, start with an ordinary conversation. Ask whether there’s something at home that would make the day easier. They might want help with transportation, a clearer way out the door, or simply company on the porch. Let them tell you what matters.
Ask before you nominate
If a deck or ramp would help, ask whether they’d be comfortable being nominated. A veteran can also nominate themselves. Our first form asks for the town, the kind of outdoor access or space they need, and a few sentences about what would change. Keep medical and military records private.
Offer something you can actually follow through on
If you work in the trades or supply building materials, tell us what you could offer and where you operate. If you’re a neighbor, share the nomination link privately with someone who might want it. There’s no donation or purchase required to submit a nomination.
